Covid 19 Precautions

Infection Prevention and Control Action Plan

In our school, measures have been taken campus-wide for hygiene conditions and social distancing during the pandemic. To manage the outbreak effectively, a team consisting of academic and administrative staff has been formed. The team members include:

    • Education Managers
    • Finance and Operations Manager
    • Human Resources Specialist
    • Quality Board Members
    • Guidance and Psychological Counseling Unit
    • School Doctor and Nurse
    • Administrative Officer
    • Occupational Health and Safety Specialist
    • Procurement Specialist

This action plan, covering the entire school, has been prepared taking into account the joint publication of the Ministry of National Education (MEB) and the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) "Improvement of Hygiene Conditions in Educational Institutions and Infection Prevention Control Guide" and the Ministry of Health "Covid-19 Pandemic Management and Working Guide". It has been tailored for the students and staff of Private Beysukent College, considering arrival and departure times to and from school, the duration spent on campus, and different areas of the school.

Our school physician, Dr. Mehmet Tezcan, has conducted seminars for our teachers on Covid-19 education.

Beysukent College General Hygiene Measures:

• Common areas are disinfected at regular intervals throughout the day and at the end of the day.

• Special disinfectant doormats are placed at building entrances.

• Regular filter maintenance for air conditioning systems, fan maintenance for elevators, and air conditioning filter maintenance for service vehicles are conducted.

• In common areas and work environments, all staff and students wear masks covering the mouth and nose and adhere to social distancing rules.

• Touched door handles, desks and chairs, stair railings, and all surfaces with hand contact are frequently disinfected.

Arrival and Departure Service Arrangements:

• Before students board the bus, the buses are disinfected.

• The hostess ensures that students boarding the bus wear masks and sanitize their hands.

• Students sit in pre-designated seats assigned to them. The transportation office determines the seats for students in advance, and the seating plan is displayed inside the bus.

• Students reach the parking lot through designated gates for buses. Entry and exit are organized to comply with social distancing guidelines.

• Parents of students who do not use the bus are asked to designate a fixed family member to bring and pick up their children from school. Additionally, if possible, individuals over 65 years old should not bring or pick up students.

• Daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic disinfection is carried out on the buses.

• Air conditioning is not used in the buses, and ventilation is ensured by opening windows.

• It is mandatory for students and staff using the buses to wear masks and adhere to social distancing rules during travel.

• At the end of the day, the buses are cleaned with a ULV disinfectant machine to prepare for the new day.

Departure from School:

• At the end of the day, students' exits from the school are divided into sections. Students using the bus in kindergarten and primary school are picked up by hostesses at 16:10 and taken to the bus area.

• Parents of kindergarten students who do not use the bus pick them up from the kindergarten garden without entering the building.

• In primary school; parents of students who do not use the bus pick them up from their class teachers. After the last lesson, the class teacher takes students who do not use the bus to the garden and hands them over to their parents.

• This method is applied as long as weather conditions allow. In case of bad weather, parents pick up their children without entering the classroom, observing social distancing, from the ground floor of Block A and the guest hall.

• Middle school students who use the bus arrive at the bus area at 16:15. Students who do not use the bus meet their parents at the main entrance gate at the same time.

• High school students leave after the last lesson, maintaining social distancing, at 16:20. Students leave the school according to the evacuation plan.

Classroom Environment:

• Students sit in single desks while maintaining social distance.

• Administrative services personnel disinfect the classrooms in the evening and ensure ventilation.

• Upon arrival at school, students enter the classroom, leave their belongings, wash and disinfect their hands in the restroom, and then proceed to their classroom.

• Exchange of personal items (such as pens, erasers, pencil sharpeners, etc.) among students is not allowed.

• Door handles, desks and chairs, and all surfaces with hand contact in classrooms are frequently disinfected.

• Hand disinfection units or spray bottles are provided in each classroom and common areas.

• At the end of each lesson, the teacher opens the classroom windows to ventilate the room.

• Whenever weather conditions permit, students are taken outdoors during breaks.

• After students leave, classrooms are cleaned with a ULV disinfectant machine to prepare for the new day.

Canteens:

• Canteens are arranged to comply with social distancing guidelines. The number of chairs at tables is reduced.

• "Queue waiting lines" suitable for social distancing are placed in canteens and cafeterias.

• Transactions in canteens are conducted using student cards instead of cash.

Cafeteria:

• Mealtimes for students have been rearranged to reduce the number of students using the cafeteria.

• The cafeteria is arranged in a diagonal seating layout to maintain social distance.

• All cafeteria staff wear aprons, caps, face shields, masks, and gloves without exception.

• Tables and meal serving areas are cleaned and disinfected after each use.

• All vegetables and fruits entering the cafeteria are washed with appropriate systems, and the packages of all packaged foods are wiped.

• Regular checks are conducted on water and food samples. Cutlery (forks, spoons, knives) is individually packaged.

• Water and yogurt are served in sealed packages. Buffet service is suspended during the pandemic.

• Hand sanitizer is provided at the entrance of the cafeteria.

Infirmary:

• The infirmary is frequently ventilated

• Disposable sheets are replaced on infirmary beds after each patient.

• Hand sanitizer is used and hands are disinfected before entering and after leaving the infirmary.

• Students showing symptoms of illness upon arrival at school are isolated in a observation room under the supervision of a health officer, and their parent is called to the school as soon as possible.

• Information sessions and trainings on pandemic and prevention methods are conducted by the school infirmary.

Library:

• Signs are placed at the entrance, in the hall, and in the elevator to maintain social distance in the library.

• The library is disinfected, and a sterile environment is created before opening for user service.

• Regular cleaning and disinfection are carried out throughout the day.

• Hand sanitizer is provided at the entrance of the library, and students disinfect their hands before entering.

• Seating arrangements on computers ensure social distancing and are regularly disinfected.

• Books returned by users are aired out, disinfected, and then placed on shelves.

Sports Hall:

• Disinfectants are available in the changing rooms, and students disinfect their hands before using the changing rooms in small groups.

• At the beginning of each class, physical distance circles are created for each student. Warm-up and cool-down exercises are conducted within the student's designated circle.

• Cleaning and disinfection procedures in the changing rooms are carried out regularly after students leave the rooms. After the process, the cleaning staff records post-cleaning procedures on the "Disinfection and Cleaning Schedule".

Teacher and Staff Training:

• A team consisting of teachers, administrators, and administrative staff is formed in accordance with the action plan.

• Health checks for administrative services personnel are conducted periodically. They are ensured to refresh their hygiene training.

• Leaving the institution during working hours is not allowed.

• All staff members at the school wear masks and face shields.

• Staff showing symptoms of illness are taken to an isolation room and referred to a healthcare facility with all necessary precautions.

In Case of COVID-19:

• If a Covid-19 case is confirmed, the affected classroom/room should be evacuated.

• The room should be ventilated and left empty for 24 hours. Afterward, it should be cleaned.

    • The person responsible for cleaning the room after a Covid-19 case should wear a medical mask, a gown or disposable apron, a face shield, and gloves. The cleaning staff should wash their hands, put on gloves, and perform the cleaning with gloved hands.
